What the numbers say
- The gap is widest at 100,000 subscribers: Flodesk costs $689 a month, 14% less than Mailchimp's $800.
- Growing from 1,000 to 10,000 subscribers takes Mailchimp from $26.50 to $110 a month (4.2 times as much) and Flodesk from $25 to $72 (2.9 times).
- Sending daily instead of weekly to 10,000 subscribers: Mailchimp has no published plan that allows it (weekly costs $110); Flodesk stays at $72.
- Paying yearly at 10,000 subscribers: Mailchimp lists no yearly price ($110 a month); Flodesk drops from $72 to $66 a month (8% off).
- Only Mailchimp has a free plan, up to 250 subscribers.

Sending limits and free plans
- Mailchimp: Monthly emails are capped at 10× the list on Essentials, 12× on Standard and 15× on Premium. Free plan: free up to 250 subscribers (500 emails a month, no automation flows). These are Mailchimp's regular monthly prices. On larger lists its page also shows 15% off for the first 12 months.
- Flodesk: Every plan sends without limits. Free plan: Flodesk's free plan can't send email; it covers forms and landing pages only. Flodesk retired its flat unlimited plan for new members on 2 December 2025; prices now scale with subscribers. Lite stops at 25,000 subscribers.
